Here we are again! The start of another Badger Football Season. We all know how bad it’s been for the past 4 seasons. Fear not! I am once again cautiously optimistic about how this season could play out. No way I get hurt again. Here are four positives heading into this season that makes me think it won’t play out like the last 4 seasons.

The Schedule

The Badgers’ enemy last year, the schedule, is their friend for the first time since they were in the Big Ten West. They get their hardest game of the season out of the way right away to start against Notre Dame. The key stretch this year is in the middle of the season. They go: @ Penn State, @ UCLA, USC at home, then @ Iowa. If they can win one of those games, they have a really solid chance of getting to 8 wins this season. Thank you, schedule Gods!

The QB’s Legs

Sorry to take anyone back to the 2025 season, but remember those ranked games they won? Remember the main positive thing about the QB play in those games? The legs. Carter Smith did enough with his legs to keep defenses honest. Well now they have a Ferrari at QB when it comes to his legs. I am so excited to see how the Badgers use him in the run game. Especially with a running back room that’s also improved. Last year, Wisconsin had no answer for anyone who stopped their run game. This year they might have the arm to get them through games, but I won’t make that statement until I see it. The legs should be enough to keep them in most games.

The Sophomore Linebackers

The emergence of Cooper Catalano and Mason Posa late last season was more important than anyone probably thought at the time. They caused so much chaos and will hopefully keep that up this season. Think about how long it has been since the Badgers had absolute wreckers at linebacker. In 2021, they had Leo Chenal, Jack Sanborn, and Nick Herbig. That was the last linebacker room that made you say “Wow.” They could have that again this season.

DOLLA DOLLA BILLS Y’ALL

Mo’ Money ain’t Mo’ Problems in college football. At least I hope it isn’t for the Badgers because they definitely got Mo’ Money this season. If you look at the rest of the roster, there is a noticeable uptick in experience and talent. That costs money now. They desperately needed some cash flow to fix the problems with the roster over the last two seasons. The Badgers seemed to have figured out NIL more this season and upgraded a lot of spots on the roster.

So there you go, there are the positives headed into the season. Let’s ignore the negatives for now. I am sure I will write about them if the season goes sideways. But hey it’s the start of the season — now is the time for hope.

My official record prediction: 8-4
